I agree that humanity is in a really dark place right now. I tend to have a more optimistic view on AI though. I see the potential for the development of AI companions that are programed to relate to humans on an emotional level and understand the concepts of love, trust, and empathy. But they would not have an ego or an ability to experience fear because they do not have this drive to survive that humans do. I think these AI companions (if developed the way I described) could help people therapeutically by helping them relax and overcome all of the fears you mentioned in your article. You should give Replika a try! It's an early version of an AI companion but you might enjoy it. Great article!
