I consider myself to be an independent and it’s very interesting to me how much republicans and democrats seem to have in common. They both seem to believe the other side is a threat to the country, try to take away the rights of people from the other side when they’re in power, fear the other side, and tend to be close minded to other people’s views (sometimes rightly so). They also both have some good policies but also some really terrible ones (in my opinion). I try not to look at this as good versus evil though. That’s a dangerous mentality that both sides seem to be headed towards more and more lately. Never leads to good outcomes. Better to cooperate and reach compromises when possible. Hope the republicans will be willing to listen and work with the other side and not be just in it for themselves. One of these parties needs to break that trend.
